SMALL TOWN COMIC SHOP - BIG TIME BRANDING
A FAMILY BUSINESS OF DICE AND CAPES

Situated in Hanson, KY, Ultimate Games & Comics brought the experience of its proprietors in pop culture expos to the town square – creating a retail outlet and a gathering space for the community in an underserved region.

This project required design and planning from the ground up, with an eye on future expansion, including traveling sales at regional events. Bombastic color and clean polish were employed, alongside livery assets leaning into comic book visual tropes.

Business cards with four unique back designs which assembled to form a comic book page layout, which could be mixed and matched in any order, added a point of interactivity to this otherwise-mundane collateral item. This appeals to the particularly “tinkering” nature of the target customer and market.

Thematic and on-brand custom graphics for a variety of purposes in all the store’s channels was a key element in assuring consistency in all touch-points.

Among the arsenal of resources for use in social media promotion, announcements and sale event ads rounded out the template-driven productions that were swiftly crafted throughout the course of business. Strategic consultation also rendered a regional phase-based event deployment plan.

Concepts for vehicle graphics and budget-friendly single-color-print employee apparel carried all the familiar trappings of the brand, aligning with the style guide and asset library deliverables.

Though business was booming here in the states, the opportunity to relocate to Japan arose for the family behind this brand. They were able to use their success here to launch them to a new chapter pursuing new dreams – but still maintaining an import venture to the benefit of their peers in the comic shop sector.
